Unexpected Surprise February 15, 2007 C. Reinhardt (NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Before this razor I had the ES4001 (a simple twin blade design) and didn't think there could be much improvement on its simple functionality. I was wrong; the pro curve has a built-in trimming blade between the two traditional blades that makes a significant difference. I went from only being able to shave about 2 days worth of growth to ... well, the longest I've gone is 4 days and it does great. My only complaint is the "popup" trimmer is worthless, I saved my old ES4001 just to use its trimmer.
Best shaver May 13, 2008 A. Belloso (Fort Lauderdale, Fl, USA) This is the best shaver I have ever used.
Fantastic, machine wet mode shave, is as close as blades, but no harm to your skin.
Panasonic electric razor shaver February 28, 2009 Mr. James D. Calkins (Calcutta, OH) The best razor I have found yet to shave my head. I have been shaving my head for more than 6 years and have used a lot of different ones. Panasonic seems to be the best for me so far. I won't try any other now. They only last about a year and a half before the blades need replaced (I shave my head every other day). It is usually cheaper to buy a new razor than buy replacement blades. So, each time I buy one I up the model and they keep getting better. This is the best model I have used yet and I am about ready to buy another so I will look for this model again.
Excellent Buy November 2, 2009 F. Ray (Savannah, Ga United States) Probably one of the best deals on Amazon.
I don't know how the very much more
expensive ones - of any brand,
could be any better.
Pretty good for the price April 13, 2006 Y. CHIU (Portland, Oregon) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Let me strat by listing my two previous shaver before this.
I had a Braun Syncro (did I spell it right?) before, enjoyed it but the self cleaning unit failed after 2 years. Pricy! And $10 per 2 month for cleaning solution was a cut back.
I then bought a Noreco (again, spelling? I am bad with names) which can be washed under tap water. It did not shave as clean but was very easy to clean (and no more paying for cleaning solution). Didn't care for the bulky round/triangular shaver head, which had never reach a fine spot or straight line like the braun. Also, if feeled like it was slowly grinding your hair off, which was easy on your skin but slow.....
I saw this Panasonic for a good price and gave it a try. I think I like it for the most part so far:
What I like:
- It has a very similar design with the Braun, except the head enclosure is a lot wider than the blade itself, will explain why...
- I like the look of it except for the wide head. The contour shape and rubbery feel on some area makes it easy to hold on to. When it is wet, that's very important.
- The blade movement is fast, feel very similar with the Braun Syncro (if you remember Braun's commercial a few years ago where they placed the shaver next to a glass of water to show the quick vibration..) Somewhere on the package it claimed to be the fastedt moving blade...
- Cleaning. It's wet/dry, so you can just place it under running water to clean. The suggested cleaning method is pretty nice too: Put your own cleaning agent (I used liquid soap) on the shave head, turn on shaver until it foamed up, remove cover for shave head, rinse under water. I like that!
- Shaving, I use electric shaver for fast/easy shave, and do not expect it to be clean like a razor blade. That's what it does, fast and relatively clean. BUT WAIT... Last Saturday I use it like a razor blade. By that I mean using shaving cream, wet the shaver and shave stroke by stroke on my face. It was slower (because of the shaving cream), but it shaved clean. Much like my old razor blade. Really.
- Now about the wider enclosure, I guess it needs the extra space to hold the excess foam when your clean it following their suggested method. Also, while you shave with shaving cream.
What I do NOT like:
- Like the other reviewer said, it only takes 110V. You cannot use it oversea with just the provide adaptor. Not only that, the adaptor is quite big and heavy.
Overall, I enjoy it very much. It is a nice shaver for the price I paid (less 40). Although, some of my points are personal preferences but for that price, use it as a travel/backup shaver if you don't like it. Did I say the adaptor was too heavy for travel? Well, it only takes 1 hour to fully charge the battery, and it will run for more about a week, so travel without the adaptor is fine in most cases.
