Best Electric Razor Ever
Posted by: | CommentsRazors are somewhat personal. What works for one person isn’t necessarily right for another person.
I don’t have one of those tough beards that needs a chainsaw to shave. I have the opposite problem that my whiskers don’t stand up enough to get into the cutting area of most electric razors without repeated passes.
I have tried many electric razors by Braun, Norelco, etc. and finally found a Panasonic electric that was very effective. I liked that one a lot and when it finally died after years of service I got a Panasonic ES8249K Arc IV Nano Vortex Wet/Dry Rechargeable Shaving System which was the replacement for the earlier model and really liked it.
Then this razor came out.
I like it even better than the previous Panasonic I had. It is better at getting the corners, the edges and the flats than the previous razor which I was very happy with. I can shave in about 30% less time with this razor.
I use it dry as the wet just makes by whiskers even less likely to be in the right place on the razor.

This Razor Rocks!
Posted by: | CommentsPanasonic ES8162S Pro Curve Elite Convex Wet/Dry Rechargeable Shaver, Black Review
I have never written a review before for any product. i was a blade shaver for 40 years. i have tried electric razors in the past (including a panasonic wet/dry shaver about 15 years ago) with poor results. recently my doctor told me to switch to an electric shaver due to the blood thinner medicine i am on. i read the prior reviews for this shaver and figured i’d give it a try not expecting great results. boy was i wrong. this razor gives a superb shave wet or dry–actually as close to a blade as i think an electric could ever shave–not perfect but pretty darn close to it. and no nicks or cuts to boot! i was torn between buying this unit or one of the better brauns. i went with this one due to the wet/dry feature that the braun did not have. i really want to congratulate the product engineers at panasonic for developing such a fine product. as a bonus the “turbo” cleaning feature works perfectly as well. in this day it’s rare to find a product that really does perform as well as advertised.

Pure Pleasure
Posted by: | CommentsPhilips/Norelco HS8420 HS-8420 Nivea Conditioning Rechargeable Shaver Review
For many years I’ve shaved with a variety of blade and electric shavers with mixed results but always with some degree of dissatisfaction. Not any more. I recently acquired a Philips/Norelco with Nivea Conditioning and shaving has changed. The smooth, effortless shave that I used to hope for is now a daily experience. After more than 60 years of (almost) daily shaving, The Norelco/Nivea combination is a pleasure to use. I still keep another electric razor for a backup but don’t plan to use it if I can avoid it.

Used Without The ‘Consumables’…Excellent Perfomance
Posted by: | CommentsPhilips Norelco 8040X Moisturizing Shaving System Review
I am not a novice to electric shavers, so keep in mind that I have used many different shavers over the years. I began shaving (electric always) when I was 15 years old. I am now 60 years old (young?). Keep in mind the differences in charge time, quick charge capabilty and full charge indication when comparing the three models in the line.
I have used the 8040X WITHOUT ANY conditioner to see if I could avoid the added ongoing expense(Norelco says that is no problem)and I must say that the shave is top notch. This unit has provided one of the closest shaves (if not THE closest) that I have ever had. My neck is quite a difficult area to deal with. It is difficult to shave it closely (I have no clue why…but especially on the left side of my neck!), yet from day one…and without using the Nivea…the 8040X has provided a superb (and fast) shave. In summary…I wanted a shaver that does an excellent job of shaving closely…expecially in my ‘problem’ areas and one that works quickly and without irritating my skin. This Norelco has performed much better than I expected on all counts. Highly recommended without any reservations.

Excellent Razor
Posted by: | CommentsPhilips Norelco 8260 CC Men’s Shaving System Review
I have owned 2 other Norelco XLs and have been very satisfied. I bought this one because I thought it was time for a change after about 7-8 years. I looked at the reviews for the Brauns and although they mostly looked good, I decided that I would stick with the rotary head razor. I was amazed that it was much better than my current Norelco. The heads have been improved tremendously. The razor is very quiet. I would have liked an LCD for the remaining charge as in my old razor, but not worth the extra money. The cleaning system is not a deal maker. It takes up too much counter-top space to keep out all the time. You can’t leave it in the cleaning system to keep it charged. The replacement cleaning fluid is too expensive. My plan is to rinse the unit in the water weekly and use the cleaning system monthly. I also reuse the cleaning fluid because it does not get too dirty since I rinse the clippings out in running water before using the system.
I am impressed with the charging (or relative lack of) of the unit. I get over 2 weeks of daily shaves on a charge!
I can get a close shave in under 7 minutes. I would describe my beard as average.
Overall, I would definitely by again. Forget the foil cutters…..
